Price is the first thing most merchants check, so here it is plainly. Mipler is cheaper at the entry level: Basic costs $9.99 a month and allows 10 custom reports. Data Export starts at $12 a month on Shopify Basic and tops out at $50 on Shopify Plus, and it never caps your reports or locks a feature behind a higher plan.

Two quick examples show where the difference lands. A Shopify Basic store with six custom reports pays $12 on Data Export or $9.99 on Mipler Basic, so Mipler is slightly cheaper. A Shopify Grow store that needs 15 custom reports pays $25 on Data Export, or $29.99 on Mipler Pro because Basic stops at 10. Count the reports you expect to build in your first year before you compare prices.
This is where the two apps differ most. Picture a finance team that wants yesterday's sales file in a shared folder before the workday starts. Data Export handles that with an hourly, daily, weekly or monthly schedule, a set time of day, and delivery to Google Drive, FTP or SFTP. CANIS, a merchant featured on the Data Export site, uses scheduled reports to send data to a vendor automatically, with no one touching it.
Mipler takes a different route. It sends scheduled emails from daily to yearly, keeps Google Sheets in sync, and lets you share a report by link so a colleague can view it without Shopify admin access. For a team that lives in dashboards and email, that works well.
Data Export exports CSV, Excel, Google Sheets, JSON and TXT. Mipler exports CSV, Excel, PDF and Google Sheets. The practical split is simple: if you need a PDF to attach to an email, Mipler lists it. If you feed an accounting tool or a custom integration, JSON and TXT from Data Export are the formats those systems usually want.
Both apps let you go beyond pre-built reports. In Data Export, you build a report from any field in the Shopify store API, including metafields, line item properties and note attributes. Calculated fields add values Shopify does not provide, such as profit, margins and fees. If you would rather not build it yourself, send a request and the team builds and schedules the report for free.
Mipler offers custom columns, measures and formulas, plus filters, grouping and sorting. Its FAQ says custom report requests are delivered within a day. The limit to watch is that Basic includes 10 custom reports.
Data Export is ISO certified and deletes your store data within 48 hours of uninstall. Whichever app you pick, ask any reporting vendor the same two questions, because it will read your orders and customers: which security standards does it hold, and how fast does it delete your data after you uninstall? For Mipler, we could not find information about security certifications or data deletion after uninstall on its public pages.
